REFLEXION UNIT 2

LEARNING:

The unit 2 of our Educational Technology class was about Digital Competences and Instructional Methods. In class, we learnt as students how to develop certain digital competences for the learning of languages.

The unit 2 contents teaching and learning theories and Instructional methods which helped us to acquire innovated knowledge about nowadays perspectives. Now, we have knowledge about the classification and use of Instructional Media that we can use as future teachers in the teaching and learning process of English.

We learnt that we have to use collaborative learning to discover more and better ways of learning and teaching Also, we explore and interact with new techniques of   learning and virtuality.

LIKES:

We liked learning about Instructional Methods and Instructional Media because it is really important to know about all of them and they can help us to be better teachers when we become teachers.

However what we liked the most was making the video about Instructional Methods and Instructional because we had to think out of the box in order to create a video and of course we had lots of fun!  Also we enjoyed working in teams because is easier to come up with creative ideas when we are not alone. In short we can say that we loved the classes and the new technological tools we start using.

DIFFICULTIES:

We didn't have any difficulty as a team so that we enjoyed the unit 2.  In general, we had a great time during the classes and outside of them creating and working as a team,

RECOMMENDATION:

More than a recommendation it is an observation, we would like that the classes start on time in order to finish on time as well :(

TPACK MINDMAP

The Challenges of Teaching With Technology

Teaching with technology is complicated considering the challenges newer technologies present to teachers.
One of this challenges is that teacher don't consider themselves sufficiently prepared to use technology in the classroomfor this reason they do not appreciate the value of new technologies to teach and learn.

Implications of the TPACK Framework

There are three key components of teacher knowledge: understanding of content, understanding of teaching, and understanding of technology. The complexity of technology integration comes from an appreciation of the rich connections of knowledge among these three components and the complex ways in which these are applied in multifaceted and dynamic classroom contexts.

-It offers several possibilities for promoting research in teacher education, teacher professional development, and teachers’ use of technology.

-It allows teachers, researchers, and teacher educators to move beyond oversimplified approaches that treat technology as an “add-on” instead to focus again, and in a more ecological way, upon the connections among technology, content, and pedagogy as they play out in classroom contexts.

Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge

The TPACK framework builds on Shulman’s (1987, 1986)  describes how teachers’ understanding of educational technologies and PCK interact with one another to produce effective teaching with technology.

In this model  there are three main components of teachers’ knowledge: content, pedagogy, and technology. Equally important to the model are the interactions between and among these bodies of knowledge, represented as PCK, TCK (technological content knowledge), TPK (technological pedagogical knowledge), and TPACK.
